Driving Test Process

DrivingTestProcess

Japan’s driving license process is very different from China. This page shows a clear path: Common Steps + Detailed Steps by learner type.

Steps may vary by prefecture, license center, and your situation. After enrollment, your coach will confirm details and make a plan for your target test center.

Common 5 Steps (All Learners)

Beginners, license conversion, and retakes all follow these 5 stages.

Step 1

Consultation & Assessment

Confirm license status, residency, target test center, and timeline. Get an initial plan and estimated lesson hours.

Step 2

Document Preparation

Prepare documents based on the Application Guide (e.g., Residence Card, Residence Certificate, translation, original license).

Step 3

Enrollment & Contract

Confirm course and hours, sign the contract, and review fees, validity, and cancellation rules.

Step 4

Practice & Strategies

Practice on-course and on-road for your target test center. Focus on deduction points and key operations. Mock exams if needed.

Step 5

Official Exam

Take the review and exams at the license center. Afterward, we review results and plan next steps.
